Print the pattern at 100% (actual size)

These are stuffed bears for the Dayton ASG Commitment to the Beavercreek Baptist Church for Operation Christmas Child project.  We use the pattern of Warren the Charity Bear from http://www.shinyhappyworld.com.  The overall size has been reduced to better fit into the gift boxes.  Please visit the website https://www.shinyhappyworld.com to see the many fun samples of bears.  Perhaps the samples will help jumpstart your creativity.

If you are making the bear for Operation Christmas Child gift boxes, DO NOT use buttons for the eyes – these are small children using the bears, so if buttons are used, we would not be able to accept the bear(s).

The following items are needed to make the bear.|

  • Type of fabric used – cotton, felt, fleece
  • 1/3 yard of fabric
  • Thread
  • If you are making the bear for the Beavercreek Baptist Church for Operation Christmas Child project no stuffing material is needed.  One of our members will stuff all the bears.

For the cutting –

  • Select 2 pieces of fabric for the bear’s body (stated Wee Warren the Charity Bear)  Do Not cut out the bear shape yet.  Different fabrics for the front and back are ok.
If you choose any of these items for your bear, you will need to cut the following –
  • Cut 1 piece of the Wide Muzzle
  • Cut 1 piece of the Bear Belly
  • Cut 1 piece of the Heart Patch
  • Cut 1 piece of the Tall Muzzle
  • Cut 1 piece of the Big Nose
  • Cut 1 piece of the Medium Nose
  • Cut 1 piece of the Tiny Noses
Trace the bear shape onto the wrong side of the fabric chosen for the bear front.  Do not mark on the fabric for the back of the bear.  Decorate the right side of the bear front with eyes, nose, belly, snout, heart, or other items as you wish.

If you have an embroidery machine, it is fine to embroider the eyes, nose, and mouth. It is your choosing. The size of the embroidered face we recommend height 2.01 inches and width 1.75 inches. If you find an embroidery file that you like, and are making the bear for the Operations Christmas Child gift box, we ask that you touch base with our Dayton OH ASG Chapter President. This is just to confirm with the Church on how the bear will look.

Final Assembly:  Sew the front and back of the Wee Warren body, right sides together, using the traced pattern line as the stitching line.  Leave an opening at least 2″ long for turning the bear right side out.  This opening may be on either the right or left leg of the bear.  If you are making the bear for the Operation Christmas Child project, you do not need to trim or turn the bear right side out.  One of our ASG members will trim, turn, stuff, and stitch shut all the bears.

Have fun and enjoy the project!
